About

Hello! I'm Arundhuti, the cook, writer, and photographer behind My Saffron Kitchen. Born and raised in the City of Joy, I'm still loving it here. I lead a life that revolves around my doting mother, my wonderful husband and our two adorable dogs. Simply put, they make my life whole. An MBA by qualification but a homemaker by choice. My urge to spend every available moment with my family never took me to the corporate world. Might sound strange but that's the kind of choice a sailor's wife is gladly inclined to make.

My interest in food evoled beacuse of my foodie husband, a Captain at sea, who, whenever is on shore, loves to hone his culinary skills. We are often found in the kitchen, cooking together!

Before my marriage, I never bothered to drag myself to the kitchen. However, now I take pleasure in cooking once in a while for my husband. For me it is also an absolute way to de-stress myself. I still remember those frantic calls to my mother for recipes and cooking tips. Now after all these years, I can safely call myself a confident cook.

One evening in September 2008, in between casual glimpses at other food blogs, I landed up conceiving one of my own. This blog then eventually fueled my passion for photography and I was introduced to the world of foodography.

A Food Blog because...

The primary reason for starting this blog was to keep a track of all the recipes I have been collecting over these years, which means having my very own recipe journal. Storing my valuable recipes online not only gives me the advantange of easy access at anytime, it also lets me share good food with other food lovers like me.

The name My Saffron Kitchen...

Simply because, I love the colour of saffron and of all the spices, it is my favourite.

The Cuisine...

Being a Bengali, I have mostly lived on Bengali cuisine. However, being married to a non-bengali who had and has the enjoyment of relishing almost every cuisine available in the world; I try to be experimental. So, here you will also come upon numerous recipes other than the conventional bengali ones.

Recipes...

A lot of the recipes that I share here, are either from my mother, other family members, relatives or friends. Some are adapted or inspired from my ever growing collection of cookbooks, and some from magazines or cookery shows, along with some which by all means are my own.

Using my recipes and photos...

You can use my recipes and photos, however under certain conditions. This blog is licensed under the Creative Commons, which means you can share or adapt my work from this blog only if you give my due credit for it. Posting & Commenting...

It takes a lot of time and effort to keep a blog updated and I can proudly say that the blog has evolved quite a bit since the time it was conceived. I try to be diligent and consistent when it comes to posting new recipes in my blog. Therefore, readers will come across new recipes frequently. If you are looking for any particular recipe, feel free to contact me. I shall try my best to post it here for you.
